The 2005 Corvette may exhibit signs of a failing harmonic balancer through increased engine vibrations, unusual noises like squeaks or knocking sounds, and potential misalignment issues affecting the serpentine belt and engine accessories. Visually inspecting the harmonic balancer for wobbling or movement during engine operation can reveal potential problems. Additionally, check for abnormal belt wear, as a failing balancer might contribute to increased wear on the serpentine belt. In some cases, fluid leaks may also be associated with a failing harmonic balancer.

Hi there,
Here are common symptoms of a bad harmonic balancer:
1. There is engine vibration at idle speed.
2. Noise and squealing sound coming from the balancer.
3. Misalignment. If the outer ring of the balancer is misaligned with the center hub, it may indicate a separation or failure of the internal components.
4. Oil leak. The seal around the balancer can fail, causing oil to leak from the front of the engine.
5. Drive belt slippage. The outer pulley slipping on a worn balancer cause belt slippage issues.
