The fuse should be providing power directly to the brake light switch in a ford focus

Hi there,
A possible blown fuse or a defective brake light switch is the culprit. The brake light switch power flows from the fuse box to the BCM first before going to the switch. Check the fuse box for any blown fuse (could be a 20amp fuse). If the fuse is good, locate the switch near or on the brake pedal. Remove the electrical connector and use a multimeter to check for continuity (zero resistance) when the brake pedal is depressed. A faulty switch won't show continuity. Purchase and replace the brake light switch.

Hey so it's pretty similar to my Nissan and should run from fuse to bcm to switch. Within this I would trace your wires leading from the bcm to the actual lights. Wires could've blown and you won't really notice. It's a simple fix as well just a highly overlooked issue.
