If that happened and now the car won't crank (I'm assuming that's what you meant) it could be due to issues involving loose connections, the ignition switch and key cylinder, battery voltage, or the starter motor.
In some vehicles though, the ignition system is paired with the vehicle's security system, and if the ignition has been tampered with, it might need reprogramming. You can check your vehicle's manual for information on key programming procedures.
Beware though, tampering with the ignition system can lead to complex issues, so I would recommend taking it to a mechanic if possible.

Hi there,
If your ignition system was removed (for maintenance & troubleshooting or other) and your vehicle does not crank means there are possible issues to be considered and carefully checked. Here are the potential sources/causes of the problem:
1. A faulty/defective ignition switch. If the switch is not properly connected, it could prevent the starter from receiving the necessary signal to crank the engine.
2. Loose ignition system wiring connectors (misaligned socket prong terminals). Check for loose connections such as socket connectors or pushed-out prong terminals from its electrical socket connectors.
3. Starter motor issues. If the starter solenoid or motor is defective already, it will prevent the engine from turning on normally.
4. Ignition key programming. If your vehicle has a transponder key or electronic immobilizer, It is possible that the key got corrupted and may need reprogramming.
I hope this helps!
