First start with checking the battery to see if it's low, then move onto seeing if you are getting gas into the motor or in the tank , you could have a bad sensor in the gas tank sending a false amount of gas left in the tank, or if it's not receiving air. It could be as simple as a bad battery or very clogged air filter. If you have power try reading any CELs that may be on. if multiple spark plugs or ignition coils are bad it's cause it to not start. could also be be clogged fuel lines, filter as well as clogged injectors. Fuel pump could also be bad. Could also be a compression leak. Crankshaft positioning sensor could be bad, causing it not to start because the car doesn't know how to time the spark plug to go off correctly. A bad, slipped or ripped serpentine belt could also keep it from starting. Pick some of the easier things to look at first, check the battery, the air filter, check the check engine lights and fuel pump first. When you turn the key to 2 you should here a quiet whine from the back of the car, that's the fuel pump priming. Use a multimeter for the battery. Check your serpentine belt. Open the air box for the air filter, if it's gnarly looking replace it then go after the spark plugs. If that doesn't work go after fuel filter, fuel lines and injectors as well as a compression test and replace the the crankshaft positioning sensor. Also research Taurus specific sensors that fail commonly that would cause it not to start. Remember the acronym FAST (fuel, air, spark, timing) for a car not starting. A bad part in any of those four systems could cause the car not to start. Also if you're in america and getting hit the storm, the cold could have wrecked your battery and it'd just need a jump, and eventually replacing. Worst comes to worse have it towed to Ford and they'll get it running, it's just gonna be probably more expensive than if you fix it your self. Keep your head about you, and you'll be ok

Make sure to check your spark, and your fuel, and to make sure your getting air in order for your car to start.

Hi there,
Here are the top four causes of the problem you are encountering:
1. A faulty starter. A possible failing starter and not spinning the engine fast enough when in the cranking process.
2. A bad fuel pump assembly or clogged fuel filter. A faulty pump may not provide enough fuel pressure to send the appropriate fuel to the fuel rail to the injectors. A clogged filter would simply restrict fuel flow to the injectors and cause the no-start issue even if the engine is cranking.
3. A faulty camshaft position sensor. This sensor monitors engine position and speed. If it fails, it can prevent fuel injection and spark, not allowing the engine to start.
4. Defective or dirty fuel injectors. Over time, the fuel injector nozzles can become clogged with rust, corrosion, or debris.
I hope this helps!
