Hi there,
PPF stands for paint protection film. It is a thin clear layer of thermoplastic urethane that is applied to the exterior painted surfaces of vehicles to protect it from small stone chips, road tar, bird droppings, bug splatter, and other contaminants. PPF is transparent and self-healing material that can absorb minor scratches and swirl marks, and then return to its clear state over time. Having PPF applied at the port of entry is a proactive measure taken by dealerships to ensure the vehicle arrives with an extra layer of protection before it reaches the customer.
Here the top four are maintenance tips:
1. Regular washing. Wash your vehicle regularly to remove dirt, grime, and other contaminants. Use mild automotive detergents and wipe the surface of your truck with a high-quality microfiber cloth.
2. Gentle drying. Blow dry your vehicle after soaping and wiping.
3. Avoid harsh cleaners and waxes. PPF is resistant to many environmental contaminants, avoid using products that could be abrasive to the thin film.
4. Avoid high-pressure washing. Mild sprat washing is ok but using a shop high-pressure car wash is not advisable.
