First I would start with the hazard lights. If the hazard lights work, there shouldn't be anything wrong with the tail light assembly. If the hazard lights work, your turn signals work and all of your bulbs are good; I would be narrowing it down to the wiring harness that runs from the cab to the rear of the truck. If you don't have any bad wires, grounds I would then be checking the cruise control module (driver side of firewall) since the brakes are on the same circuit as that. If it fails, no brake lights. Hope this helps.

Here are some other possible reasons why your brake lights are not working in your 1999 Chevy Silverado, even after replacing the brake light switch and checking the fuses:
- Faulty brake light bulbs: Check the brake light bulbs to make sure they are not burned out. You can do this by visually inspecting the bulbs or by using a test light.
- Faulty brake light wiring: Check the brake light wiring for any signs of damage, such as cuts, breaks, or corrosion. If you find any damaged wiring, repair or replace it as needed.
- Faulty ground: Make sure the brake lights have a good ground connection. You can do this by checking the ground connection at the brake light bulbs and at the brake light switch.
- Faulty brake light relay: The brake light relay is responsible for turning on the brake lights when you press the brake pedal. If the brake light relay is faulty, the brake lights will not work. You can test the brake light relay by replacing it with a known good relay.

The most frequent culprit behind non-functioning brake lights is burnt out bulbs. Like any other light source, brake light bulbs have a finite lifespan. Mike Anderson, an ASE-Certified Mechanic, suggests, “These bulbs need replacement every two years, so periodic checks are essential.”

Your tail lights have a light bulb socket with two screws holding in the lens. Those are bad.
I purchased new tail lights, they came with the sockets and new bulbs, it fixed everything!
thank you car parts!!
