Hi there,
The accidental arching of the battery (negative and positive terminals touch causing a spark) may have caused some electrical issues, but it is not usually related to the clutch pedal becoming unresponsive. The issue with the clutch pedal that is hard to press is probably coincidental and is a separate problem. Check these possible causes:
1. Clutch hydraulic system issue. It is possible some main components failed such as the master or slave cylinders. One of them may need replacement.
2. Clutch master/slave cylinder. Any of the parts could have coincidentally failed already if they had not been replaced for a long period of time. Try doing a clutch bleed and see if the pedal operation goes back to normal again.
3. Electrical issue after the battery arching. It is worth checking the electrical fuse boxes for the fuses and relay and see if there are components that went busted or defective.
I hope this helps!
