Keep in mind if you don't fix the root issue your truck will go into lulump mode at some point and then you will need a professional scanner to diagnose the root problem then before you will be able to drive normal again.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,
There might be a problem with the level sensor or a sensor calibration issue. It is possible to drive with the DEF light on, but not advisable. The DEF light warns about the Diesel exhaust fluid level is low, and if you continue to drive without adding DEF, the engine could go bad. If the DEF is on and the fuel tank is full. You can try these following steps to reset it:
- Turn on the ignition without starting the engine (ignition key "on" position only).
- Press and hold the gas pedal for 10 seconds.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Start the engine.
If the light does not go off, you should bring your vehicle to a professional mechanic.
The 266 miles to empty light is a separate warning indicating how much DEF is left in the tank. Driving until the tank is empty would result to engine going to limp mode until the engine stops. You will need to add DEF to drive the vehicle again. I hope this helps!
