Hi there,
Here are general steps to replace the oil pressure switch on a 2010 Chevy Impala:
The tools you need first:
1. New oil pressure switch 2. Wrench/socket set 3. Thread sealant (Teflon sealant) 4. Oil catch pan 5. Rags & cleaning materials
Steps:
1. For added safety, please detached the negative terminal of the battery. 2. The part is usually located near the oil filter on the engine block, Attached by thread connection. 3. Prepare a pail to the drain some amount of oil from the oil pan to prevent excessive oil spillage. 4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure switch. 5. Use a wrench or socket set to loosen up the old oil pressure switch from the engine block. Oil might leak out, so be prepared with rags/cleaning cloths. 6. Apply the sealant to the threads for the new oil pressure switch and install the oil pressure switch by tightening it. Then, reconnect the wiring socket connector. 7. Refill oil since you drained engine oil. 8. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and start the engine. Then, observe for any leaks. 9. Observe the oil pressure gauge in your car's dash panel if it is showing the proper amount or level of oil.
I hope this helps!
