I can be driving my car and the brakes will start applying on there on making me push harder on the gas paddle to keep current speed until I can pull over. Once stopped I can push xxxx the brake pedal and it will release and I can drive normal again for no certain amount of time and it does it again, also the steering wheel shakes when it's starting to happen. No certain speed or distance when it happens. I need help to find out what causes this in my 2010 equinox LT. 2.4l

Hi there,
The process of testing an ABS module (Anti-lock brake system) is a complex task, which usually requires specialized tools and knowledge about the brakes. It is recommended to consult a professional mechanic/ certified technician who is familiar with the ABS system of a vehicle since it involves diagnosing an electronic module that is complex in nature. We cannot give an input for your problem based on the facts you mentioned since the better approach is with professional care. I hope this helps!

This is not a direct answer as a mechanic should be consulted. I did find on my 2011 Equinox that the brakes were also engaging on their own, causing it to downshift and work hard. The problem was found to be the brake hose. I confirmed this by bleeding the brakes and hardly any fluid came through it. Deteriorating hose caused it. After replacing and bleeding the brakes again, much better.
