Hello SkyLevelServices.
It's not uncommon to face issues with thermostat failure, but there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and address the problem in your 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500.
Firstly, ensure that you are using a high-quality thermostat. Cheap or poorly manufactured thermostats can fail more frequently. Consider using a thermostat from a reputable brand known for producing reliable automotive parts.
1) Check the quality and mixture ratio of your coolant. The right coolant mixture is crucial for proper engine cooling and to prevent overheating. Make sure you're using the coolant recommended by the manufacturer for your specific Silverado model.
2) Cooling System Flush. Over time, sediment and contaminants can build up in the cooling system, affecting the thermostat's performance. A proper cooling system flush can help remove these deposits and improve the efficiency of your cooling system.
3) Air Pocket. Ensure that there are no air pockets trapped in the cooling system. Air pockets can prevent the thermostat from opening and closing correctly. Bleeding the cooling system properly after refilling the coolant can help prevent this issue.
4) Temperature Sensor. Sometimes, a faulty temperature sensor can cause the thermostat to malfunction. If the temperature sensor is sending incorrect signals to the engine control module, it might lead to improper thermostat operation. Consider having the sensor checked or replaced if necessary.
Remember that diagnosing and repairing such issues can sometimes be complex, and it's important to have the right tools and knowledge to address them effectively. If you're not confident in your abilities, seeking help from a qualified mechanic is always a good idea.
Once you've identified which part needs to be replaced, click this link to be directed to our website where your vehicle information has already been entered. Simply enter the part's name into the search field to get started.
We hope this helps. Have a nice day!

Maybe you should 100% antifreeze instead of diluting it

Hello Wilfred.
According to Quora, a highly regarded site for asking and answering questions, and other credible online sources, using 100% anti-freeze is not recommended because it will most likely not address the problem of your thermostat burning out too frequently. In fact, utilizing undiluted coolant can cause additional issues and may not adequately treat the underlying thermostat problem. The source URL can be found here.
