The dashboard warning indicates an issue with the charging system. Here are the possible causes:
1. Check battery connections, terminals, and cables for corrosion, any loose contacts, or damaged wirings.
2. Check the drive belt for wear and tear. The alternator is the part that charges the battery, and a worn or damaged drive belt can cause the alternator to malfunction.
3. Test the alternator voltage. Use a multimeter on the battery terminals. The reading should range from 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If the voltage is lower than that, you have a faulty alternator.
4. Check for busted fuses or relays. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for the fuse/relay box diagram to identify bad/blown-up fuses or relays.
I hope this helps!
