Hi there,
The dinging sound indicates several issues to look at. The first is seat belt reminder warning. All occupants should be fastened. The second is a door ajar sensor warning. Make sure all door are properly closed, or the door adjar sensor is faulty. The third is, low fuel warning. Lastly, a warning for the ignition switch, which could be defective already. I had same problem on a 97 ranger it was a door switch was bad check to see if you rear dome light is on if it is good sign switch is bad
