Hi there,
If you have identified a dead short to chassis ground negative and positive battery leads, it is vital to have it fixed ASAP. to avoid damage and cause a safety hazard. Here's what to do: 1. Disconnect the battery to cut off power while you do the troubleshooting. Look for burnt or exposed wiring. 2. Check all the wiring/cables going to the battery (open wire, wires with corrosion). Replace exposed or damaged wiring harness if ever. 3. Check the electrical components of the battery circuit such as the alternator, the starter, or the ignition system. 4. Isolate and repair the shorted wiring if ever. 5. Reconnect the battery to check if fixed. I hope this helps.
