Your RAV4 could be experiencing a problem with the air intake system or the fuel system. While replacing the mass airflow (MAF) sensor may help, there could be other issues at play.
Have you checked your air filter? If it's dirty, it can restrict the airflow to the engine; hence, may result in symptoms similar to what you've pointed out.
Check for vacuum leaks, too, as they can result in rough idle, slow acceleration, and other issues. Inspect your car's vacuum lines and connections for signs of wear and tear.
While at it, it's good to also inspect your fuel system. A clogged fuel filter or malfunctioning fuel pump can make your engine struggle when accelerating, consequently causing it to shake or jerk. To ensure your fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specifications, consider having a fuel system pressure test.
Won't hurt to also check for fault codes. Even if the check engine light isn't lighting up, there may be error codes stored in your vehicle's computer that can help pinpoint the issue. Consider having your trusted mechanic perform a diagnostic test to access these codes and diagnose the issue more accurately.

Check out your pcv valve! Those are recommended to be replaced every 75,000 miles and they tend to get clogged or stuck open causing there to be extra vacume hence why you can have a rough idol or struggle going up hills. Take it out and see if it rattles at all or if there's any debree
