Hello Metalmanx48.
Based on the facts you provided, it appears like the shuddering and stumbling you're experiencing could be a result of a variety of issues. Here are some possibilities to consider:
1) Ignition system problems such as worn spark plugs or a broken ignition coil, can cause the engine to misfire and shudder. You should inspect the spark plugs and ignition coils to see whether they need to be replaced.
2) Fuel system issues such as a clogged fuel filter, a malfunctioning fuel pump, or a problem with the fuel injectors could also cause engine shuddering and stumbling. It may be worth having a fuel system inspection performed to determine if any of these components are the root cause of the issue.
3) Transmission or torque converter could cause the shuddering sensation you're experiencing. It's possible that the transmission may need to be repaired or replaced.
4) Engine mechanical issues such as a vacuum leak or a problem with the timing belt or chain. You may need to have a comprehensive engine inspection performed to identify any underlying mechanical issues.
It's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue without further diagnostic testing. I would recommend bringing your Kia Sorento to a qualified mechanic who can perform a thorough diagnosis and provide you with an accurate assessment of the issue. They can also provide you with an estimate for the necessary repairs.
Once you've identified which part/s needs to be replaced, click this link to be directed to our website where your vehicle information has already been entered, followed by the part name. Our system will display available parts for your vehicle.
We hope this helps and have a good one!

Might need a tune up or throttle body checked. Make sure the throttle body is clean.

Replace you Catalytic converters with OEM ones only before you end up waiting for a tow like my wife and I. With our 14 soul. Did the same thing one day out of the blue and then it would idle and wouldn't go anywhere.
Also check for an open recall on your kia also it's a major issue with them clogging up and your story is a picture perfect Is scenario for that problem.
Hope this may have helped.
