Because of the gearing like starting out in second or third gear

This issue could be caused by several factors, including:
Engine power: The engine may not have enough power to maintain its speed while going up the incline in reverse.
Transmission: The transmission may not be properly shifting into a lower gear, causing the engine to work harder.
Engine load: The vehicle may be too heavy or carrying too much weight, making it difficult for the engine to maintain speed.
Engine condition: The engine may have a mechanical issue that is causing it to bog down, such as a clogged air filter, low oil level, or a failing ignition system.
If the issue persists, it is recommended to have a professional mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose and fix the problem.\

Avoid backing up on an incline whenever possible. that should correct the problem instantly. Really tho I think it's probably the gears like the other gentleman said in his answer.
