Hi there,
The usual sounds of a bad wheel bearing are cyclic chirping, squealing, and/or growling noises. You can also tell that the sound is related to wheel bearings if it changes in proportion to vehicle speed. The sound can get worse with every turn, but disappear momentarily. Click here for more info about the issue. I hope this helps.

Based on the information provided, the grinding noise you are experiencing in your front left wheel of your 2009 Chevy Impala LTZ could potentially be caused by either bad rotors/brake pads or a bad wheel bearing. Here are some considerations for each possibility:
Bad Rotors/Brake Pads:
- Worn-out brake pads or unevenly worn brake rotors can cause a grinding noise during braking.
- Inspect the brake pads for excessive wear, thinning, or unevenness.
- Check the rotors for signs of warping, scoring, or roughness.
- If you notice significant wear or damage to the brake pads or rotors, they may need to be replaced.
Bad Wheel Bearing:
- A faulty wheel bearing can cause grinding noises that are typically speed-dependent and can be louder during turns.
- Listen for a humming or growling noise that changes with vehicle speed.
- Jack up the front left wheel and check for excessive play or looseness by trying to wiggle the tire.
- If you detect noticeable play or hear abnormal sounds when spinning the wheel, the wheel bearing may need to be replaced.
