Hi there,
This is possibly a coolant temperature issue. Here are signs of a bad coolant temperature sensor:
- Poor fuel economy
- Irregular temperature readings
- Black smoke from your exhaust
- Engine is overheating
- Check Engine Light is on

Try checking your coolant level , be safe and check it while it's cold and with the engine running top it off with a 50/50 coolant & distilled water mixed solution. Check for leaks . *Never remove a radiator cap while the engine is hot severe burns could be the result .
