Hello there.
Even if the voltage is present, your alternator will not charge if the diodes are burned out or have a leak. There could be a fault or the voltage in the regulator needs to be adjusted. Other possibilities include a damaged serpentine belt, a faulty fuse (80A), wiring or connector issues, an alternator fuse, battery corrosion, and, in rare cases, the ECM. First, rule out any and all potential causes.
We hope you find this information useful. Have a great day!

ok. I'm trying to understand your question to best help so I'm going to walk through what I would do. First, voltage regulator is incased in the alternator, not adjustable or replaceable. If you have a voltage regulator, Check open circuit at battery terminals. Anything reading below 9 is bad battery. Needs replacement. Start engine should read 13.5 to 14.5. If it reads same engine off and running then ya alternator is not charging. Alternator is excited by the field wire contained in the smaller pigtail. Check connections push hard to engage and get a full snap. Maybe use some die electric grease for good connection. Same with larger cable. Check connection for cleanliness and tightness. Check and clean battery terminals. Lastly, check fuse in under hood distribution panel. At very least, some alternators are just bad right of the box. I've gone through 3 once finally got a good one. I've learned to never get part at oriellys, if available get remanufactured, then new, then rebuilt, and always check the easy and obvious stuff to. Update us after checking things out
