The most common reasons for a cold start or rough engine idle on a Chevy Malibu are a defective starter, an alternator problem, or an almost dead battery. To compensate, you can try these steps;
1. Turn off the power
2. Dip the clutch when turning the engine on
3. Check the battery terminals if clean and tightened
4. Full up sufficient engine oil
5. Jumpstart
6. Replace the battery
