That is a strange coincidence, but I'm not sure how changing the fuel pump could effect the power steering. I would check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir and see if you can see any fluid circulating while the engine is running. If not, I would suspect an issue with the belt, pulley, or something internal to the pump has failed.
