I have a 2010 Dodge Journey, there are times it won't start, I just get a click and nothing more. The Starter was replaced and it is still doing it, I can go days and all is well and then it happens again. I have had it to the mechanic I use and they can't find anything wrong. Today I went to get gas and when I was ready to leave it happened. 15 tries or more before it finally started. I drove it home, turned it off and restarted it, again it did not go, I tried 3 times and gave up. Any help available for you would be greatly appreciated. This is nerve wrecking.
Thanks in advance

As the previous guy explained, there are major steps to troubleshoot this issue. Check the ground on the firewall or engine block, follow the ground from the solenoid to see if it is loose, check the battery cables, make sure they are clean. If you have a multimeter, check that you have 12 volts there then check the starter relay: there is a schematic on the starter relay that will tell you what pins to check, but I would say the problem is in the solenoid on your starter with the clicking noise you describe. Hope this helps. You can go to YouTube if you do not find your answer here or you cannot read schematic or electric drawing--people there can guide you through steps to take.

Hi,
I would check the condition of the main battery terminals, making sure they are tight and not corroded. I would also check the ground straps on the engine block and chassis side of the battery ground wire. The problem requires an extensive and careful troubleshooting procedure.
