Hi. The code P0650 on a 2001 Kia Sportage denotes Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Malfunction. It denotes an incorrect voltage level on the output circuit, which controls the MIL. The wiring and indicator bulbs must be checked. Check the wirings to the instrument cluster after checking for corrosion, ground wires, and open wires. Does the check engine light come on when you turn on the ignition or after a few miles of driving? Data is stored in the ECM and PCM. After everything has been repaired, it may need to be reprogrammed to remove the stored memory. I hope you find this information useful, and please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. Have a wonderful day!
