Hello!
There is likely a drain plug in the gas tank, but I generally prefer to disconnect the fuel line and apply power to the fuel pump fuse with a power-probe. It's helpful to extend the fuel line to a fuel jug for easy disposal. If you see any debris in the fuel, or if it is rust colored, then the fuel tank should be refurbished or replaced.

There's no drain plug on the tank. What I did on my 97 GMC pickup was lower the tank (I had less than 1/2 tank of gas). Disconnect the lines and tip the tank to drain out the gas. I then installed a new tank because the old one rusted through where the strap ran across the top of the tank.
