Hello! I would start by carefully inspecting the connections and wiring near the starter to make sure nothing is bridged or shorted. Can you tell me the part number of the starter that you purchased? It looks like there are slightly different configurations depending on the manufacturer. If all of the wiring looks good, I would consider disconnecting the small wire and briefly connecting the battery to see if the starter still starts to spin. Did the old starter have the same symptoms?
